Cool Springs' Cars n' Coffee Hosts Biggest Event Yet

By Austin Mabe

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Thousands of car enthusiasts gathered for the annual Cars n’ Coffee event from 8-10:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 in Cool Spring’s Thoroughbred Theatre parking lot.

Cars n’ Coffee was started by a group of friends who own sports cars such as Porsches and Ferraris. Every Saturday, they would drive them after having coffee at Starbucks. They began meeting other people who loved driving their sports cars in the Franklin area, as well. They eagerly wanted to join in on the adrenaline-filled fun. As these weekend rides gained popularity, more and more people started calling to join as well.

“Soon the crowd became too big for the local Starbucks,” said senior member Jonathan Price of Franklin.

Nevertheless, they all starting meeting at the Cool Springs Thoroughbred Theatre across the street from Starbucks after ordering their coffee in the drive-thru.

“The drive-thru line soon backed up to the main road, so most participants just went to the theatre parking lot instead,” Price said.

Price, who owns a 2014 McLaren P1, said he loves to show it off. “It all got started by a group of close friends who owned sports cars and loved driving them”, Price said.

Franklin’s Justin Allison, who owns a 2013 Alpha 12 GTR, agrees. “I’ve been at least 230 mph on Highway 840 with this thing, “Allison said.

The cars they mentioned are nothing close to the cars one might see on the road today. The Alpha 12 GTR is capable of going as fast as 100 mph in less than six seconds, Allison added. The sports cars seen at Cars n’ Coffee are hard to forget. The owners keep the clean, tuned and ready to go so they can show them off as they please.

The Cars n’ Coffee meet brought out over 1,000 sports cars and at least 2,000 observers on Nov. 5. The people in attendance are friendly and willing to talk about their cars to anyone curious enough to ask. The meets occur every Saturday from 8-10:30 a.m., with the first Saturday specializing in exotics. Cars and Coffee

By Edgar Perez

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Every Saturday morning between 8 and 11, the event Nashville Cars and Coffee occurs in the Carmike 20 theater parking lot in Franklin, Tenn. The first Saturday of the month is “exotic”, meaning you get to see some of the fastest cars in the world, like Bugatti, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ferrari’s, and many more.

This is an entertaining event to watch because it shows how much people love their own cars. It shows how passionate they are. You get to experience new things with each car. You get to see what type of work owners put into their vehicles.

A lot of car sponsors come to the event, including BMW and Nissan. Last time I went, Firestone Tire Company was changing tires for free for anyone who had poorly conditioned tires on his or her car. During the event, the people who host like to give out doughnuts and water to attendees.

The Lamborghini Aventador is a sports car produced by an Italian manufacturer. It was launched on Feb. 28, 2011. The Aventador was named after a fighting bull. The base price of the Aventador is $393,695. The engine is the best thing it has for its performance. It has a V12 engine weighing 235 kg. Its top speed is around 215 miles per hour. This car is very attractive to me from the way it looks and performs on the streets.

“It’s an amazing experience to get to meet exotic owners and to get to see the best and most expensive cars with your own eyes!” said Runne Gutierrez, a car enthusiast. The Cars and Coffee event occurs at 633 Frazier Drive in Franklin, Tenn.

The gathering is a very loose and relaxed event run by the car community, drawing an array of people. Some old timers, kids, and even teenagers like me attend. It’s straight forward. Bring your ride, exotic, specialty or any motorized transportation and show it off to the group and onlookers.

If you are a car enthusiast, I would recommend you mark your calendar and check out the Cars and Coffee event. If you do not have a sweet ride, no worries. Come enjoy your Saturday morning with some coffee and view some amazing vehicles.
